Music executive CLIVE DAVIS is giving an additional $5 million gift to the TISCH School of the Arts at NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, allowing the expansion of the CLIVE DAVIS Department of Recorded Music into the CLIVE DAVIS Institute of Recorded Music, school officials announced TUESDAY.
The gift will make it possible for the school to recruit additional working professionals as faculty members, establish a scholarship fund, facilitate the recruitment of young talent from around the world and increase the number of students. Future Music Moguls will be a free program for students in the NEW YORK CITY area, and the Summer High School Programs in Recorded Music will be open to students everywhere.
With a $5 million gift from Mr. Davis in 2003, the CLIVE DAVIS Department of Recorded Music opened its doors. Its curriculum was designed to provide professional training for students seeking work in the music industry as creative entrepreneurs. This expansion into an institute will allow the program to accept about 80 students as opposed to the 28 it originally held.
