GLENN BECK's MERCURY RADIO ARTS has made it official with the formal announcement of the widely anticipated subscription online streaming video network GBTV. The service, launching immediately with a "launch event" on WEDNESDAY (6/8) at 7p (ET), will air BECK's new two-hour TV show (which launches SEPTEMBER 12th 5-7p (ET) and will include contributions from S.E. CUPP and BRIAN SACK) and a simulcast of his radio show, as well as a video simulcast of the "Fourth Hour" show with PAT GRAY and STU BURGUIERE. The channel is launching with an "exclusive behind-the-scenes reality show about the making of GBTV" and has inked a development deal with producer and best-selling author BRAD THOR.
"GBTV is the future," PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS host BECK, whose FOX NEWS CHANNEL show ends this month, said in a press release. "The confines of traditional media no longer apply. GBTV is about getting active in the community, participating in stories and finding new ways to deliver news, information and entertainment directly to the audience."
The channel, with over 80,000 paying subscribers already signed up, will also be promoted on over 100 CLEAR CHANNEL Talk stations. "We've had a long history of success with every business that GLENN and MERCURY have brought to us," said CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO Pres./CEO JOHN HOGAN. "We're thrilled to be able to provide a broad promotional platform for GBTV and to promote MERCURY's vision of the future to millions of consumers."
MERCURY Pres./COO CHRIS BALFE will oversee GBTV and said, "Lots of people are talking about the digital content revolution, but few are willing to risk it all and place a huge bet on the future. With GBTV, MERCURY is doing just that. Fortunately, our incredible team at MERCURY, as well as our industry-leading business partners, makes me confident that we will once again build something extraordinary."
Former FOX NEWS CHANNEL executive JOEL CHEATWOOD will serve as President of Programming and will oversee the new TV show. Former PREMIERE President KRAIG KITCHIN will oversee cross-platform ad sales for MERCURY's digital properties.
Subscriptions to the channel will cost $4.95/month for access to just BECK's new TV show, or $9.95/month for all programs, including the radio simulcast. A special introductory offer is offering the $4.95 rate to all new subscribers until SEPTEMBER 12th. The video will be available via computer, iPHONE, iPAD, iPOD Touch and ROKU.
