A pirate radio operator has been arrested and charged with a felony in SOUTH FLORIDA, reports the SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL. MERCIUS DORVILUS of NORTH LAUDERDALE, FL was arrested FRIDAY for unauthorized transmission and/or interference with a public radio station. DORVILUS was allegedly operating a Haitian pirate station on 92.7 FM from a rented room in POMPANO BEACH. Agents seized a transmitter, mixer, laptop and portable air conditioner from the site.
Meanwhile, the FCC sent Notices of Unlicensed Operation to RIC STAR (101.3 FM, CHESTER, PA); DANIEL HALGASH (106.7 FM, WARRINGTON, PA); JACOB MATTERN (88.3 FM, LAFAYETTE, IN); and PAUL ODANIEL (100.1 FM, INDIANAPOLIS).
