2005: Good Year For Canadian Radio Revenues

According to figures released by the CRTC, CANADA's commercial radio stations saw revenues rise 8.7% in 2005 to C$1.3 billion, with profit before interest and taxes up 23.8% to C$277 million. FM stations saw revenues jump 11.8% to over C$1 billion (English up 11.3% to C$824.7 million, French up 10.6% to $190.8 million), with local ads up 7.9% to C$742.2 million and national up 22.5% to C$272 million; profits jumped 20.9% for English stations and 8.2% for French stations. AM stations saw revenue fall 0.7% to C$302.5 million (English up 2% to C$264.7 million, French down from C$22.7 to C$17.5 million) but profits rose from C$3.4 to C$13.6 million.
