The city of HARTFORD is considering changing the name of Grove Street to BOB STEELE Drive, honoring the late WTIC-A/HARTFORD morning man in the 100th anniversary year of his birth, according to the HARTFORD COURANT.
A committee including local journalists and STEELE's son PHIL have contacted Mayor PEDRO SEGARRA, asking for support for renaming the street, which runs past WTIC's former location at the TRAVELERS Building.
STEELE, who was with WTIC from 1936 until his 2002 passing, was morning host from 1943 until 1991 and later hosted a weekend show for the station.
