Did HOWARD STERN get offered a "major deal" to return to terrestrial radio in the same kind of split-arrangement his arch-rivals OPIE AND ANTHONY got from CBS and XM?
The NEW YORK POST's JOHN MAINELLI quotes STERN as making the "me-too" claim on MONDAY's show, telling listeners that "I got offered a major deal to go back to terrestrial and stay on satellite at the same time" but said "I could never imagine going back after doing this and trying to work in that environment again, with TOM CHIUSANO (WFNY-F (92.3 FREE FM)/NEW YORK GM) hittin’ the (expletive) button every minute."
STERN wouldn't say who made him an offer, but ALL ACCESS has heard strong but unconfirmed talk about the same company MAINELLI speculates might have made an offer, CITADEL, which is taking over the ABC RADIO stations.
O&A, for their part, expressed skepticism about STERN's claim on their own show, playing clips of STERN's comments while ANTHONY CUMIA did his impression of "HOO HOO" and advised STERN to stop trying to claim he's done everything first ("just do your show").
