ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS has applied to the CRTC to offer satellite radio to digital cable subscribers in ONTARIO, NEW BRUNSWICK, and NEWFOUNDLAND-LABRADOR. The cable company applied for the right to do so in FEBRUARY but the request was made public MONDAY (5/8). ROGERS told the CRTC in an APRIL 18 letter that it has been in preliminary talks with both XM CANADA and SIRIUS CANADA about offering their channels through digital cable. XM and SIRIUS channels are offered by DIRECTV and DISH NETWORK, respectively, in the U.S.
