SALEM's BILL BENNETT is hitting the road with TEXAS Governor RICK PERRY as PERRY's likely entry into the Republican race for the presidential nomination continues to generate speculation. BENNETT will travel with PERRY to ALABAMA FRIDAY for a series of political events and will be with the Governor on SATURDAY in SOUTH CAROLINA when PERRY is expeted to announce his candidacy. PERRY has recently asked BENNETT, a former member of the cabinets of Presidents RONALD REAGAN and GEORGE H.W. BUSH, for advice.
BENNETT says he has not formally endorsed any candidate yet, but told listeners on today's edition of "MORNING IN AMERICA" that "Gov. PERRY and I are friends; we share a lot of interests and political views; we like to talk things over from time to time, and I sure am encouraging him to run for President."
