THE WALT DISNEY CO. fiscal second quarter revenues rose 4% to $8.027 billion, short of analysts' expectations, and net income rose 12% to $733 million (37 cents/diluted share).
The company's broadcasting division, which includes radio (much of which is set to be sold to a new entity owned by CITADEL and DISNEY shareholders) saw a 28% revenue increase to $1.779 billion, credited to the performance of the company's ABC TV network and Television Production and Distribution division (including an increase in license fees for "SCRUBS"), plus the effect of the SUPER BOWL and BCS games. The company does not break out results for radio in its earnings reports.
