The WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH called off its planned protest at a Marine's funeral in ATMORE, AL after ADX COMMUNICATIONS Talk WNRP-A (NEWSRADIO 1620)/PENSACOLA afternoon host BRANDEN RATHERT offered the group time to speak about their beliefs on the air.
The controversial church, which holds protests at military funerals blaming AMERICA's tolerance of homosexuality for the ills of the country, planned to protest at TODAY's funeral for Lance Cpl. TRAVIS NELSON, but accepted RATHERT's offer instead.
"I hate to do it, but I would rather give them airtime than have the NELSONS have to endure this," RATHERT said. "Please forgive me."
