AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA has launched an additional feature of its MARKETPLACE financial news programming, "MARKETPLACE INDEX." The weekday report, hosted by DAVID BRANCACCIO and made available moments after the markets close, aims to "psychoanalyze" the economy on a daily basis. The feature has been added by APM sister stations SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial News-Talk KPCC/PASADENA-LOS ANGELES and MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO's MPR NEWS network, and is being accompanied by a humorous interactive graphic feature online produced by Sr. Editor PADDY HIRSCH.
"No one is in a better position than MARKETPLACE to address rising anxiety about the economy, said MARKETPLACE VP/GM JJ YORE. "Timely economic news during these turbulent times is essential. MARKETPLACE INDEX is another way we are delivering what people want -- news that explains what's happening on WALL STREET in ways that Americans on Main Street can understand."
"Getting into the heads of the people making wide-ranging decisions that affect our wealth and well-being will be a fascinating journey," said BRANCACCIO. "A bit of 'psychoanalysis' of market psychology can go a long way toward explaining the direction of the economy."
