Former FCC Chairman KEVIN MARTIN told the TRIANGLE BUSINESS JOURNAL that he thinks media companies could appeal the ban on newspaper-broadcast cross-ownership to the Supreme Court. "I will not be surprised if media companies continue to battle this ban,” MARTIN told the paper, for whom he will be appearing at an event on SEPTEMBER 14th. “The question is, will the case be reheard.”
The cross-ownership ban was relaxed under MARTIN's leadership at the Commission but was reinstated in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
A three-judge panel of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals upheld for the most part the FCC's media ownership rules. Broadcasters are asking for the full court to review the case.
