Former KEMP COMMUNICATIONS Talk KMZQ-A/LAS VEGAS host STEVE WARK pleaded guilty in district court this week to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in a scam involving an attempt to gain control of a condominium homeowners' association to steer business to a law firm and construction company, according to a report by FOX affiliate KVVU-TV (FOX 5)/LAS VEGAS.
The plea was part of a plea deal reached with prosecutors in the case.
WARK and his conspirators allegedly set up a scheme in which they used straw purchasers to buy mortgages for condos, then get their own people elected to the HOA boards to then direct business to the law firm and construction company, accepting money in exchange. WARK himself agreed to join a company in order to get onto the board of the VISTANA condos as part of the scam.
The crime carries a maximum 30-year prison sentence.
