LINCOLN FINANCIAL Hot AC WSTR (STAR 94)/ATLANTA morning hosts CINDY SIMMONS and RAY MARINER sat down recently with retired Lt. Col. SCOTT GOODWIN, who was co-pilot on Air Force One on SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. The interview, entitled "9/11 from the Flight Deck of Air Force One" will air on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th, as STAR 94 observes that fateful day 10 years ago.
"I remember every moment from that day," GOODWIN told CINDY & RAY. "I don’t talk about it much, actually. This is the first time I’ve been interviewed about 9/11 and probably will be the last. I was proud to be doing what I was doing that day."
GOODWIN, who now lives in PEACHTREE CITY, detailed how he learned of the attacks on the WORLD TRADE CENTER while on the plane in SARASOTA, FL and the immediate concern of getting President BUSH to safety in the air. He gave insight on Air Force One’s stops in LOUISIANA and NEBRASKA before making the heartbreaking trip to WASHINGTON, where THE PENTAGON was still smoldering.
"Of all my years of interviews, SCOTT's story is the most riveting I’ve heard," said STAR 94 News Director ROB STADLER, who sat in on the conversation. "CINDY & RAY's listeners will be hearing a special perspective from someone who was on Air Force One on one of the most uncertain days in our nation’s history."
