WDST Gears Up For Pink October

CHET-5 Triple A WDST (RADIO WOODSTOCK)/POUGHKEEPSIE-WOODSTOCK, NY has announced plans for its 13th annual PINK OCTOBER FUNDRAISER on the weekend of OCTOBER 21st-23rd.
PINK OCTOBER benefits breast cancer research at the DYSON CENTER FOR CANCER CARE AT VASSAR BROTHERS MEDICAL CENTER in POUGHKEEPSIE. Funds will be raised with a weekend-long Request-A-Thon, an online auction, and a pair of benefit concerts featuring NATALIE MERCHANT.
The historic OLD DUTCH CHURCH in KINGSTON, NY, built in 1659, will host two intimate concerts featuring multi-platinum recording artist and Hudson Valley resident, NATALIE MERCHANT, on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22nd.
For the second annual PINK OCTOBER REQUEST-A-THON, RADIO WOODSTOCK programming will be turned over to its listeners from FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21st, through SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23rd. The station will accept song requests in exchange for donations of $25 or more. Donations of $50 will also be rewarded with a limited edition PINK OCTOBER 2011 T-SHIRT and the brand new RADIO WOODSTOCK 100.1 NEW MUSIC SAMPLER featuring new songs from AMOS LEE, THE JAYHAWKS, THE DECEMBERISTS, MIKE DOUGHTY and many more!
Lastly, throughout the month of OCTOBER, the station will auction off memorabilia, concert tickets, and other unique items and services to raise money for the cause. Bids will be accepted online at RadioWoodstock.com. The station is actively accepting meet-and-greet packages, box sets, cool artist items, etc. for the auction.
In 2010, RADIO WOODSTOCK raised $50,000 for the DYSON CENTER.
Station Pres./Owner GARY CHETKOF said, "2010 was the biggest fundraising effort in the history of the station! The outpouring of support was truly amazing as our listeners and sponsors came together for a cause that affects all of us. We have high hopes that we will be able to exceed last year’s fundraising efforts in 2011!"
In other RADIO WOODSTOCK news, the station is co-sponsoring a hurricane relief concert this SUNDAY (9/18). The HUDSON VALLEY ARTISTS HURRICANE RELIEF CONCERT held at the BEARSVILLE THEATER will feature JOHN SEBASTIAN, ROBBIE DUPREE, HAPPY TRAUM, GARTH HUDSON, DANNY LOUIS, TRACY BONHAM, MARCO BENEVENTO, DONNA LEWIS, MARC BLACK, BRUCE KATZ, SCOTT SHARRARD, DONNY DAVIS, ERIC PARKER, MIKE ESPOSITO, WARREN BERNHARDT, RANDY CIARLANTE, STEW CUTLER, MACHAN TAYLOR, CHARLIE KNICELY, ROSWELL RUDD and more to be announced.
WDST and BRAD‘s BARNS are also currently in a drive to collect food, clothing and household items for those affected by the flooding from Hurricanes IRENE and LEE.
