The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) presented NASHVILLE Mayor KARL DEAN the CMA “Chairman’s Award” during a reception at the CMA office yesterday (9/20). The honor is given annually, and DEAN received his award from CMA Board Chairman, STEVE BUCHANAN. At the event, BUCHANAN praised DEAN's leadership and passion for Country music and tireless efforts on behalf of the format in NASHVILLE.
BUCHANAN said, “Mayor DEAN has shown, and continues to show, his support of the music industry in numerous ways. He understands the inherent power of the MUSIC CITY brand as a positive differentiating identity, as well as the undeniable impact that music can have on a community, from tourism to education to economic development to quality of life. The CMA and the Country music industry value our relationship with the Mayor as well as his commitment to make NASHVILLE a better place to live and do business."
DEAN added, "This is a real honor. I'm very touched by it. I really do look forward to having four more years where we can keep moving forward because I think we've just barely scratched the surface."
