Former NPR SVP/News ELLEN WEISS has been named Exec. Editor of the CENTER FOR PUBLIC INTEGRITY, a nonprofit investigative news group. WEISS has been serving as a project consultant for PEW RESEARCH CENTER and will start her new position on OCTOBER 3rd.
"ELLEN WEISS is one of the best and most creative news executives in the business," said Exec. Dir. WILLIAM E. BUZENBERG. "I know the CENTER will gain enormously from her knowledge of investigative reporting and digital media."
WEISS exited NPR in JANUARY after an internal investigation of her firing of commentator JUAN WILLIAMS for controversial comments about Muslims made on FOX NEWS CHANNEL. She was with NPR for 29 years and at the helm of the news division for five of those years, previously serving 12 years as Exec. Producer of "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED."
