The NAB got its reply comments in to the FCC on the Low-Power FM/FM Translator docket, reiterating its position that changes in the proposed rules that would favor LPFMs over translators "would not be consistent with Congress’ direction in the (Local Community Radio Act) that LPFM and translators 'remain equal in status.'"
Among the NAB's positions are favoring the elimination of the MAY 1st, 2009 date restriction on FM translators authorized to rebroadcast AM stations; the need to make the FCC's proposal "more accurate" by using ARBITRON Metros to define relevant market areas rather than a "one-size-fits-all" grid; and that several of the comments by other parties were outside the scope of the docket.
