Famed R&B guitarist MARVIN TARPLIN passed over the weekend. He was a legendary figure at MOTOWN RECORDS in DETROIT in the early 60’s and 70’s.
Probably best known for his classic guitar intro to “Tracks Of My Tears,” TARPLIN co-wrote several hits with SMOKEY ROBINSON, including “Being With You,” “Cruisin’” and “Going To A Go-Go.” TARPIN also co-wrote several songs for MARVIN GAYE including "Ain't That Peculiar?" and "I'll Be Doggone."
Funeral arrangements are pending. TARPLIN was 70.
