The RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION will honor longtime CBS newsman RICHARD C. HOTTELET and local TV news innovator AL PRIMO with Distinguished Service Awards at the EDWARD R. MURROW Awards dinner on OCTOBER 10th in NEW YORK.
HOTTELET, who was hired by MURROW at CBS NEWS in 1944 after being the only American reporter taken prisoner by the Nazis in 1941 (while he was with UNITED PRESS), worked for CBS until his 1985 retirement.
PRIMO was the creator of the "Eyewitness News" format, most prominently at WABC-TV/NEW YORK, and has been honored with a lifetime Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, and the ELLIS ISLAND Medal of Honor.
