HOUSTON PUBLIC MEDIA, the broadcasting arm of the UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON, has named BELO-owned CBS affiliate KHOU-TV/HOUSTON Director of Programming and Marketing LISA TRAPANI SHUMATE as Executive Director and General Manager. SHUMATE, who will oversee PBS affiliate KUHF-TV and noncommercial News-Talk KUHF-F (KUHF NEWS) and Classical KUHA (CLASSICAL 91.7), has served in management positions with KHOU-TV and ABC O&O KTRK-TV (ABC 13) and with BELO MARKETING SOLUTIONS in DALLAS. She will report to the university's Provost/SVP, JOHN ANTEL.
"Leading HOUSTON PUBLIC MEDIA is an opportunity I find both challenging and rewarding," said SHUMATE. "The newly merged entity is poised for growth and the ability to contribute more to the UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON, as well as the HOUSTON community."
"We are so pleased to have an individual of LISA's caliber in this important new role," ANTEL said. "Her passion, experience, vision and determination to lead HOUSTON PUBLIC MEDIA to financial health and greater stature make her an exceptional choice for this position. I commend the search committee for its fine work."
