A worker has fallen to his death from the FM-128 tower in NEWTON, MA, the location of the antennas of CBS RADIO Sports WBZ-F (98.5 THE SPORTS HUB) and Oldies WODS, BOSTON UNIVERSITY noncommercial News-Talk WBUR, GREATER MEDIA Country WKLB (COUNTRY 102.5), and CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic WJMN (JAM'N 94.5)/BOSTON. The BOSTON GLOBE reports that the man was working on the AMERICAN TOWER CORP.-owned 1,253-foot structure when the incident occurred.
ATC VP/Communications MATT PETERSON told the GLOBE that the victim was a contractor who was installing a safety ladder and performing routine maintenance. "We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our contractors. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and co-workers during this difficult time. We are working closely with the relevant authorities and cooperating fully with all inquiries into the cause of this tragic accident. We have suspended all work at this site pending a thorough review of this incident," a statement issued by PETERSON for the company said.
