CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY NORTHRIDGE Triple A KCSN/LOS ANGELES has announced that Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame members TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS will play the station’s first benefit concert.
The Benefit Concert will be held SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29th, at the 500-seat PLAZA DEL SOL PERFORMANCE HALL on the campus of the university. Tickets will be sold during a membership Pledge Drive from OCTOBER 14th-23rd. LISSIE will be the opening act.
KCSN PD SKY DANIELS said, "TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS are not only one of the greatest bands of all time, they are true believers in the power of rock ‘n’ roll. For them to selflessly want to perform this show speaks volumes for their love of music, and their willingness to support KCSN’s effort to build a radio station devoted to breaking new artists, supporting local artists and respecting great legacy artists."
PETTY added, "We're really looking forward to it. We are happy to support Public Radio given the challenges it faces today."
Further, the station will be having Pledge Auction taking place OCTOBER 14th-23rd at auction.kcsn.org. The auctions will include one-of-a-kind autographed memorabilia from U2 (a GRETSCH FALCON electric guitar, signed by all four band members!), COLDPLAY, JACK JOHNSON, MUMFORD & SONS, MICK JAGGER, SHERYL CROW and more.
Proceeds from the pledge drive will be used to support growth initiatives for KCSN, including signal improvements and community outreach. A portion of proceeds will also go to benefit NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO’S Music Initiative.
