YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 10/13), ALL ACCESS confirmed what had been rumored for weeks about restructured regional management teams in CLEAR CHANNEL's medium and smaller market stations, following several days of management meetings in ATLANTA this week.
One region not accounted for, however, was several of CLEAR CHANNEL's IOWA stations. Why?
ALL ACCESS has learned that QUAD CITIES, CEDAR RAPIDS and IOWA CITY VP/Market Mgr. JOHN LATON abruptly resigned at the ATLANTA meetings. Apparently, LATON was penciled in for new regional responsibilities -- but his exit has left a hole in the new structure.
Prior to the last restructure, LATON was a regional RVP and worked with veteran programmer JJ COOK, who was RVP/Programming, both overseeing 11 markets. What does this new direction mean for COOK? Could he rise with more regional duties -- or is he out with the changes"?
A CLEAR CHANNEL spokesperson declined to comment on LATON's exit.
