JEFF KAPUGI has been named PD for CBS RADIO Country WUSN (US 99.5)/CHICAGO, and VP/Country Programming, CBS RADIO; it was announced today by SVP/Chicago Market Mgr. ROD ZIMMERMAN and SVP/Programming GREG STRASSELL.
The appointments are effective MONDAY, DECEMBER 5th. KAPUGI will remain in his current position as PD for CBS RADIO's AC KEZK and Hot AC KYKY/ST. LOUIS through NOVEMBER.
"JEFF (KAPUGI) has worked at a variety of radio stations throughout his career, successfully entertaining audiences by presenting the perfect balance of personality and music programming," said ZIMMERMAN. "WUSN holds an exceptional place in the world of country music and we look forward to using JEFF’s experience and creativity to produce added benefit to our listeners."
KAPUGI told ALL ACCESS, "This is an amazing opportunity that CBS has presented me with and I am very excited to get back to my hometown and program a heritage radio station like US99.5! The format VP stripes are just icing on the cake. I look forward to working with the entire CBS Country team and getting entrenched in the Country community.
"My departure to CHICAGO leaves a prime opening for the ideal candidate to program AC KEZK (FRESH 102.5) and Hot AC KYKY (Y98). Candidates should apply at the Career Center at cbsradio.com. I start in CHICAGO on DECEMBER 5th and would hope to have candidates narrowed down for ST. LOUIS SVP/Market Manager JOHN SHEEHAN."
Jeff Garrison To Handle Label Relations
In a related announcement, JEFF GARRISON will serve in the newly created position of VP/Country Artist Relations with a focus on developing cross-platform artist promotions using CBS RADIO's lineup of leading Country music stations and the Company's digital and mobile assets. He will continue as OM for CBS RADIO/PHOENIX and PD of KMLE.
Added STRASSELL, "Our Country radio stations have experienced growth where we’ve applied new, non-traditional country tactics. And there are a number of exciting opportunities that remain untapped. Today’s announcements make the best use of two amazingly talented programmers with individual strengths and relationships in the music business."
