EMMIS has launched a 24-hour Comedy station in AUSTIN. Heard on a 240-watt FM translator, COMEDY 102.7 is the newest affiliate of the TEXAS-based 24/7 COMEDY RADIO NETWORK.
The station’s format will consist of many thousands of two- to three-minute long stand-up routines from legendary comics such as RICHARD PRYOR, GEORGE CARLIN and RODNEY DANGERFIELD, as well as contemporary comedians like JIM GAFFIGAN, WANDA SYKES, CHRIS ROCK, JEFF FOXWORTHY, DANE COOK, JERRY SEINFELD, RON WHITE and CHELSEA HANDLER -- plus AUSTIN-based funnymen like ANDY RITCHIE and SHANE MAUSS.
"AUSTIN is renowned for its live music scene and music-loving residents, and that scene is supported by great local radio stations playing a wide variety of musical artists," EMMIS/AUSTIN Radio VP/Market Manager SCOTT GILLMORE said. "Now the growing AUSTIN comedy scene (and laugh-loving Austinites) will have a place on their radio dial to find their favorite comedians, to discover new comedians and to provide an outlet for the local comedy scene. too!"
"We’re excited to bring Comedy 102.7 to AUSTIN -- and you’ll want to set a button on your car radio to 102.7," EMMIS/AUSTIN Radio VP/Programming & Operations CHASE added. "Everybody needs a comedy break during the day."
