MAPLETON Classical KBOQ (K-BACH)/MONTEREY, CA's flip to AC as "B103.9" earlier this month (NET NEWS 10/18) has prompted MT. WILSON FM BROADCASTERS to look for a broadcast outlet in the MONTEREY market to simulcast its Classical KMZT-A (K-MOZART)/LOS ANGELES.
MT. WILSON owner SAUL LEVINE told the MONTEREY HERALD, "That's our goal -- classical music coming back to MONTEREY. We're going to do it as quickly as we can. Once we heard (last) MONDAY that K-BACH was gone, we jumped right on it." He said he was negotiating for an outlet and expected the process to take 60-90 days.
USC Classical KDFC/SAN FRANCISCO is also looking to extend its coverage into the MONTEREY market, with station President BILL LUETH saying that "If we can figure out a way to put something on down there, we will."
