Syndicator MANNGROUP RADIO is now offering a new weekend show, "Afternoon Gumbo," that was co-created by longtime radio programmer JEFF WYATT (WXKS, WUSL, KPWR, KIIS, WIHT, WMZQ) and veteran record promotion executive IRIS DILLON (A&M, VIRGIN, and ISLAND RECORDS). DILLON will host the two-hour show will debut in the first quarter of 2012.
"Afternoon Gumbo" will feature everything from BILLIE HOLIDAY to THE ZOMBIES, FRANK SINATRA to STEELY DAN, THE TEMPTATIONS to COLDPLAY, COLBIE CAILLAT to ELLA, THE BEATLES to MICHAEL JACKSON. The music variety is aimed at the 25-54 music lover who programs their music via PANDORA and their iPODS.
"It’s PPM and diary weekend appointment listening and TSL where you don’t expect it," WYATT noted. "Narrowcasting may be what’s happened to radio formats, but stations can surprise, enlighten and delight with this specialty program by going 'broad.' Afternoon Gumbo is a 'pinch of this' and a 'dash of that' along with a teaspoon of inspiration our host brings to all whose path she crosses each day. IRIS lives the life of music -- managing producers, writers and artists -- and knows how to tell tales so listeners stick around and enjoy. If you know IRIS (if not, you should!), you gotta hear this demo."
"When I first spoke with JEFF and IRIS about this, I knew there had to be a place for Afternoon Gumbo on the radio," MANNGROUP's ED MANN said. "There isn’t a STARBUCKS, COFFEE BEAN or even a CITIBANK that doesn’t play all of this music all day long to a rapt audience. And everything we’re seeing about the listening habits, particularly of female 25-54 PANDORA and iPOD listeners, includes a wide variety of eras, genre’s and HITS! It’s a musical adventure with an incredible hostess!"
