WIND-UP ENTERTAINMENT Founder and former Chairman ALAN MELTZER passed away over the weekend, the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER reports. The 67-year-old's death was said to be sudden and results of an autopsy are pending.
A rep for the label said, "In the interest of respecting family and friends’ privacy, no other details are available at this time."
After MELTZER and his wife DIANA purchased indie label GRASS RECORDS, they revamped it to become WIND-UP RECORDS in 1997. The label was responsible for multi-platinum acts CREED and EVANESCENCE; MELTZER left the company in 2010.
"ALAN was a creative force in the entertainment industry and will be missed," WIND-UP CEO/Pres. ED VETRI said, "His passion for music and long-term artist development was the capstone of the label and continues to drive us today."
