The CBC has received CRTC approval to add five new transmitters in QUEBEC to extend the coverage of French-language LA PREMIERE CHAINE affiliate CBGA/MATANE, QC.
The new transmitters will be at CHANDLER (93.3 FM, 1,010 watts), NEW CARLISLE (98.7 FM, 710 watts), NEW RICHMOND (104.3 FM, 1,030 watts), PERCE (104.5 FM, 980 watts), and PORT DANIEL (92.5 FM, 920 watts).
The CBC also got the CRTC's approval for a new rebroadcasting transmitter for CBTK/KELOWNA, BC at LILLOOET, BC, replacing a low-power AM transmitter at the same location. The new facility will run 90 watts on 92.7 FM.
The agency also approved a new transmitter location with lower height and power for a new community station previously granted to CENTRE WELLINGTON COMMUNITY RADIO INC. at FERGUS, ON. The applicant told the CRTC that the original tower site was "too costly to maintain and was nearing the end of its life," prompting the move.
And STOKE FM RADIO SOCIETY won a license for a new English-language, very-low-power FM at REVELSTOKE, BC. The station will operate with 4 watts at 92.5 FM.
