The historic original towers of WBZ-A/BOSTON have been taken down after 90 years. CBS O&O WBZ-TV/BOSTON reports that the two 100-foot towers at the old WESTINGHOUSE plant in SPRINGFIELD, MA were dismantled SATURDAY as part of the redevelopment of the property by new owners.
Engineer KURT JACKSON used the towers for one last broadcast before the dismantling, attaching a ham radio antenna between the towers and broadcasting with a group of ham operators from the WBZ Mobile Newsroom. WBZ is now owned by CBS RADIO.
