Former CUMULUS Classic Rock KLOS/LOS ANGELES evening host JIM LADD's "farewell" broadcast on crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A SATURDAY night included phone-ins from a long list of artists championed by the longtime DJ, reports ALL ACCESS News Talk Sports Editor PERRY SIMON, who is also a fan of JIM LADD -- and listened to the broadcast.
Among the guests were JOHN FOGERTY, JACKSON BROWNE, ROGER WATERS, SLASH, GEORGE THOROGOOD, JOHN DENSMORE and DAVID CROSBY, along with actor/singer BILLY BOB THORNTON, KLOS "BREAKFAST WITH THE BEATLES" host and former DRAMARAMA member CHRIS CARTER and LADD's KLOS PD BOB BUCHMANN -- like LADD, now unemployed after CUMULUS' cuts.
LADD was showered with praise from callers and guests, and played coy about future plans, praising one possible destination, BONNEVILLE Classic Rock KSWD (100.3 THE SOUND), as "a fine station" and thanking KFI PD ROBIN BERTOLUCCI for the opportunity to be on KFI to do the farewell show he could not do on KLOS. The show began and ended with the opening of TOM PETTY's song inspired by LADD, "The Last DJ."
