BRUCE PEARL, whose tenure as men's basketball coach at the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE ended in controversy over NCAA recruiting violations and unethical conduct, has landed as a host on SIRIUS XM RADIO's COLLEGE SPORTS NATION channel. PEARL will first appear on a special on MONDAY (11/14) 6-8p (ET) alongside fellow new COLLEGE SPORTS NATION host JEFF GOODMAN of CBSSPORTS.COM and MARK PACKER. PEARL will then begin hosting COLLEGE BASKETBALL TODAY twice a week (noon-3p (ET)) starting in JANUARY.
"In the 30-plus years I've been involved in college basketball, I've had the privilege of coaching in many of the game's greatest venues in front of the most passionate fans in sports," said PEARL. "On SIRIUSXM COLLEGE SPORTS NATION, you can hear and feel that passion every day. I'm excited to get on the air and be a part of it, sharing my thoughts and experiences, breaking down the games, and talking with fans all around this country who love the game like I do."
PEARL was fired by the VOLS in MARCH after the furor over a cookout that included high school players in attendance and subsequent revelations that he gave NCAA investigators false information about the incident, and a three-year show-cause penalty in AUGUST bars PEARL from recruiting during that period if he takes a new coaching job unless his new school can show cause to have the ban lifted.
