CRTC Approves Two New Ontario FMs

The CRTC has approved new FM stations in two ONTARIO towns and an additional transmitter for a third.
In PRESCOTT, ON, HALIBURTON BROADCASTING GROUP, INC. has been granted a new Hot AC station on 107.9 FM with 4,200 watts at 120 meters HAAT.
In PORT HOPE, ON, not-for-profit SMALL TOWN RADIO has won a license for an English-language community FM with 700 watts at 9 meters on 89.7.
COCHRANE POLAR BEAR RADIO CLUB has been granted a transmitter at SMOOTH ROCK FALLS, ON to rebroadcast its community station CFDY/COCHRANE. The new transmitter will operate with 50 watts at 88.5 FM.
And BYRNES COMMUNICATIONS INC. won approval for increasing the power of AC CIHR (104.7 HEART FM)/WOODSTOCK, ON from 7,100 to 8,950 watts and for changes in the station's obligations to pay into Canadian talent development programs to allow for more annual flexibility over the license term.
