CBS Radio Brings News To 99.1 FM in Washington, D.C.

CBS RADIO will launch a News format in JANUARY 2012 on what is currently Spanish Contemporary WLZL/WASHINGTON, D.C.,as a result of an agreement to acquire Religion WFSI at 107.9 FM from FAMILY STATIONS, INC. which will serve as the home for "EL ZOL." Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.

Staffing AnnouncedWCBS-A/NEW YORK Asst. Dir./News and Programming ROBERT SANCHEZ has been named as PD for the station MICHELLE KOMES-DOLGE will also join the station as News Director. She has spent years doing News in the Washington, D.C. area, including a stint at News Dir. for WTOP.
"EL ZOL" will debut on 107.9 FM on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1st through a LMA with FAMILY STATIONS, INC.
