Longtime UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA football radio voice LARRY MUNSON died SUNDAY (11/20) at 89. He had fallen ill with a respiratory infection in SEPTEMBER.
MUNSON, who began his career at KDLR-A/DEVILS LAKE, ND, called football games for the UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING and VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY before becoming the voice of the GEORGIA BULLDOGS in 1966, replacing ED THILENIUS. Among other work, MUNSON called ATLANTA BRAVES games in the team's first season in the market in 1966, and called ATLANTA FALCONS football. He retired in 2008.
