Musician Paul Yandell Passes Away At Age 76

Guitar player PAUL YANDELL has passed away at age 76. He passed away this morning (11/21). PAUL started working with CHET ATKINS in 1975 and supported ATKINS in his career for 25 years. PAUL also worked with THE LOUVIN BROTHERS, KITTY WELLS and JERRY REED. He was a session player for many artists including ATKINS, REED, DOLLY PARTON, STEVE WARINER, PERRY COMO, LES PAUL, MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER and more.
He also released his own solo work, including his CD “Forever CHET,” a tribute to CHET ATKINS which was released in 2001.
YANDELL is quoted as having said, “All I ever wanted to do when I was a kid was to come to NASHVILLE and play at the GRAND OLE OPRY, that was my dream night and day. The dream eventually came true. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunities to play with -- all my heroes. What more could a guy want?"
PAUL is survived by his wife MARIE, his son MICAH and daughter-in-law SHERI. A Celebration of Life service will be held on FRIDAY (11/25) at 5p (CT) at the HENDERSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME in HENDERSONVILLE, TN. Visitation with family will precede the service from 3p to 5p (CT). Graveside services and burial will be held at CLARK’s RIVER BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY in SYMSONIA, KY on SATURDAY (11/26) at 11a (CT).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALIVE HOSPICE or the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM CHET ATKINS EXHIBITION.
