A new report says LIBERTY MEDIA's JOHN MALONE is looking at increasing his stake in stacaster SIRIUSXM. THE NEW YORK POST writes, "MALONE's media conglomerate is having discussions about adding to his sizable stake in Sirius, although the talks are at an early stage, according to a source close to the situation."
Back in MARCH of 2009, LIBERTY acquired a 40% stake, in the form of voting preferred shares, in SIRIUS (NET NEWS 3/6/2009)
"While a source confirmed the talks are ongoing," notes CLAIRE ATKINSON in the report, "LIBERTY MEDIA CEO GREG MAFFEI had barely a peep to say about it at the company's investor day on THURSDAY, when asked about whether LIBERTY would spin off its stake in SIRIUS. A full-on SIRIUS acquisition by LIBERTY also has long been rumored, as has the notion that MALONE would sell his stake even though the latter option has been deemed less likely given the radio company’s recent performance."
