TYLER MEDIA GROUP Country KJKE (JAKE FM)/OKLAHOMA CITY is campaigning on air, on its their website and on FACEBOOK to buck the trend of rushing into CHRISTMAS before THANKSGIVING. The station’s 2nd Annual “COALITION TO SAVE THANKSGIVING” is now up at www.jakefm.com.
Morning show man CRASH started the idea and hopes to collect 10,000 signatures from listeners that are fed up with “CHRISTMAS gobbling up THANKSGIVING like a BUTTERBALL turkey.” Those that sign the petition pledge to wait until after THANKSGIVING to put up CHRISTMAS lights, listen to holiday music and shop.
CRASH said, “We just want it to keep THANKSGIVING from getting the short end of the ‘drum-stick’ as CHRISTMAS now practically starts after LABOR DAY.”
PD KEVIN CHRISTOPHER added, “We are all about stimulating our sluggish economy and join our local OKLAHOMA merchants in hopes this will be a banner year economically but it does seem to start earlier every year.”
