THE NEW YORK TIMES reports, "EDGAR M. BRONFMAN JR., who has been a major player in the music industry since the mid-1990s, is stepping down as chairman of the board of the WARNER MUSIC GROUP, effective JANUARY 31st."
The report notes BRONFMAN will remain on the board, but told employees in an internal memo that his "other obligations are beginning to take an inordinate amount of time."
BRONFMAN had been CEO at WMG, but stepped down from that role in AUGUST (NET NEWS 8/17) to become chairman of the board.
