Seattle: KKWF Tops KMPS In Country Battle
While CBS Country KMPS tied FISHER News/Talk KOMO for the top spot 12+, we find that ENTERCOM Country rival KKWF was the market's real Country winner, beating KMPS 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54 despite losing by a half share 12+. Other stories in the market:
18-34: KKWF's biggest growth was among adults 18-34, where they surged from under a 5 share to the mid 8's. KKWF was up 76% in the cell to capture the top spot. CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic KUBE inched up a tenth, but slid from first to second 18-34. ENTERCOM Active Rock KISW (+0.5) holds in third place. SANDUSKY Rhythmic AC KQMV (MOVIN' 92.5) was off nearly two shares in demo, and also slid from second to fourth in rank. ENTERCOM Alternative KNDD was up a half share, moving from a tie for seventh into the fifth spot. CBS Top 40 KBKS also saw a half gain, and moved up in rank from ninth to sixth, although the heritage station still trails KUBE by 83% in demo. CBS Classic Rock KZOK (-0.2) is tied with KBKS for sixth. In eighth place is CRISTA MINISTRIES Christian AC KCMS (+1.9) comes in ninth, while BUSTOS Regional Mexican KDDS (-0.4) rounds out the top ten.
There was a changing of the guard in the Spring book in Orlando with new leaders in all three demos.18-49: We have a new 18-49 champ as KISW (+1.1) moves from fourth to first, making them the only station over a six share in demo. KKWF vaults 1.4 shares and climbs from fourth to second. KZOK (-0.4) slides from first to third. KUBE (-0.3) slips from second to fourth. KCMS gains a full share to move from eighth to fifth. KMPS does post a solid 0.8 gain and ranks sixth. A stellar move (+1.5) for CBS Adult Hits KJAQ (JACK-FM), which surges from a tie for No. 12 to No. 7. Moving from a tie from 12th to a tie for eighth is FISHER Hot AC KPLZ (+1.0). Also tied for eighth is a KQMV (-0.6) and down from fifth. Rounding out the top ten was KNDD (+0.3).
25-54: KZOK is the 25-54 champ thanks to a 0.4 gain. KISW surges 1.2 shares to move from fourth to second. KKWF gains 0.7 and climbs from fifth to third, edging rival KMPS (+0.6) by a tenth. KMPS was tied for fourth with KCMS (+0.6). Vaulting from No. 12 to No. 6 is KJAQ (+1.1), and moving over a 4 share. ENTERCOM Triple A KMTT (-0.6) drops from third to seventh, tying them with KPLZ, who gains 0.8 shares. In ninth, was KUBE (+0.4), while SANDUSKY Smooth Jazz KWJZ (+0.2).
Other notes: SANDUSKY AC KRWM, generally a market leader, didn't rank among the top ten stations 18-49 or 25-54. KRWM plummeted from No. 2 to No. 12 25-54, tying them with sister KQMV, who also lost 0.6 25-54, in addition to their drops 18-34 and 18-49. CBS Top 40 KBKS also continues to have its issues. While showing some growth 18-34, KBKS was beaten by KUBE by 79% 18-49 and 119% 25-54.
