LOS ANGELES: SPANISH STATIONS CONTINUE TO LEAD CORE DEMOS
While the jury is still out as to how much of an effect the PPM will have on Spanish language stations, one thing is for sure: Their popularity in the diary remains dominant.
UNIVISION Regional Mexican outlet KSCA was #1 12+, 18-34, and 25-54 this book -- and in many of the demos, it wasn't really close. KSCA continues to be led by morning superstar EDDIE "PIOLIN" SOTELO. SOTELO leads his next closest competitor by 2.3 shares 12+, 2.4 shares 18-34 (where he is well into double digits), 2.7 shares 18-49, and a staggering 3.4 shares with adults 25-54.
Among adults 18-34, EMMIS Rhythmic KPWR (+0.4) came in second. LIBERMAN Regional Mexican KBUE (+0.4) and CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KIIS (+0.3) were tied for third. A huge move for SBS Latin Urban KXOL (+1.7) vaulted them from eighth to fifth, while sister KLAX was sixth (+0.1). CBS Alternative KROQ slipped from fifth to seventh (-0.9), UNIVISION Spanish AC KLVE (+0.1) was eighth. Tied for ninth were CLEAR CHANNEL sisters AC KOST (+0.4) and Rhythmic Oldies KHHT (flat).
In the 18-49 cell, KIIS (+0.2) moved into a tie with KLAX (-0.3). KLVE (-0.3) and KBUE (+0.3) tied for fourth, as Spanish language stations grabbed four of the top five positions in the demo. KPWR (-0.2) was sixth, KXOL (+1.0) had a huge book to grab seventh (trailing KPWR by 0.3 shares). KOST was flat to rank ninth - while UNIVISION Spanish Adult Hits KRCD (+0.3) and CBS Adult Hits KCBS-FM (-1.3) tied for the tenth spot.
Finally, with 25-54 adults, KSCA (+0.7) was far ahead - with sister KLVE and rival KLAX tied for second (both off 0.6). KBUE (+0.2) was fourth, as Spanish stations grabbed the top four places in the market. KOST (+0.2) rounded out the top five and was #1 among English stations in the demo. KIIS (flat) and KRCD (+0.4) tied for sixth. KCBS-FM (-1.1) slid to #3 English and #8 overall. KROQ (-0.6) ranked ninth and CBS Smooth Jazz KTWV (+0.3) rounded out the top 10, as CBS has four of the top-six 25-54 stations in English.
One of the big winners this book was MT. WILSON FM's KKGO. L.A.'s new Country station was up dramatically - nearing a 2.0 share 25-54 - tying with it the final 25-54 share that EMMIS had with KZLA. Speaking of the former KZLA, KMVN was up another 0.3 25-54; it's up 87% from its Fall 2006 ratings in the cell. Radio One Urban AC KRBV (+0.2) also saw some improvement 25-54; it's up a half-share from a year ago.

MILWAUKEE: WMIL SOARS TO THE TOP 18-49 AND 25-54

In his first full book in MILWAUKEE, HARVEY surged 78% (2.5 shares) in adults 25-54, placing him ahead of rival TOM JOYNER on SAGA Urban AC WJMR, which slid 1.5 shares. Harvey also soared all the way to the #3 spot with adults 18-49, behind Rocker WHQG and WMIL.
