BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
DEMO:
I'm an experienced female radio professional with many years on the air and I have had the opportunity to work with some awesome people and stations. My skill is connecting more with listeners and clients. I'm ratings-proven and skilled in new media, website content creation, graphics, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I'm currently voice imaging a number of stations. I'm looking to improve a radio team full-time and I work well with sales and promotions. I'm seeking an opportunity to join a winning team, connect and put roots into a local community. I want to help a local station and cluster grow toward an even brighter future.
1) What do you do to maintain a positive mental attitude and stay motivated?
I like posting positive thoughts of the day on Facebook. It not only motivates me but motivates others and they appreciate that with their comments.
2) How are you occupying your time, besides looking for a job?
I moved back home to help out my 80-year-old Mom. She lost her home in Hurricane Matthew so I'm organizing the rebuild. Plus I'm imaging for a few stations and doing commercials for a local station in my home town.
3) Do you plan on sticking with radio?
Yes, I've always wanted a career, not a job. Radio is my life and even though I have other talents, radio is my love.
4) What's the longest stretch you've had on the beach?
Five months is the longest.
5) What's the best way to get your foot in the door?
Keep at it. Always try to stay in front. Stations might get 500 to apply. Send your stuff again and again. Don't give up. Make that resume and aircheck stand out!
6) What has been your best resource for finding out about job openings?
I check DAILY, AllAccess.com, Countryaircheck.com and go personally to the radio company's websites, iHeart, Cumulus, Cox, and so on. I also sign on to linkedin.com and have daily job alerts sent directly to my e-mail.
7) What is the next job you'd like to obtain?
I love production and would be happy as production manager or assistant. I would also like an air shift doing middays, afternoons or mornings as co-host. I want to obtain a live and local radio show and put my roots into the community with an outstanding and stable company.
8) How are you finding the "courtesy level" at places you've applied? (Callbacks, e-mails, rejection letters, etc.)
The courtesy level on callbacks has been very nice and very professional. The rejections are very mechanical ... seems like it's just a form letter and not personable it all, plus I don't think they even looked at my resume. Most don't e-mail you back unless they want to do a phone interview to set it up. Other e-mails are copy and paste rejections or auto send.
9) Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years?
I will be doing what I love in five years and in 10 years, on the air! Radio can be challenging at times but it's fun and I love it ... and I love the listeners.
10) Is there anything specific that you regret doing while you were still working?
I always say "Save your money." I could have put more money back in savings. Also, I was in Alabama and I regret not getting enough Alabama Football Souvenirs.
