1) What do you do to maintain a positive mental attitude and to stay motivated?
I'm a health nut, so I train and work out a lot. I'm also into hot yoga, plus I read a lot.
2) How are you occupying your time, besides looking for a job?
I've been working on all my voiceover skills and doing a lot of radio production work for friends, helping them get into radio. Plus spending time with my 12 godchildren.
3) Some people get discouraged or enlightened with the business when they actually step out of it for a while. Tell us your observations from the outside.
The radio business has changed a lot; it's more about connecting with the audience and having a strong social media presence. The business is now more about corporations, so you have to stay ready; you have to read a lot and stay up on social media as well.
4) Do you plan on sticking with radio?
Yes indeed. I plan on owning a radio station. Radio is my lifeblood, everything I do connects to radio from music production and events to social media to working with artists, all the dots connect to radio. I've been doing radio since I was 16 years old and it's in my blood line as well.

Right now ... it's been exactly one year this month and it's driving me crazy!!!!
6) What's the best way to get your foot in the door?
I find the best way to get your foot in the door is to stay on top of your network. It's all about networking with media people. I'm always reading the online trades and checking in with my peers from all walks of media.

I look at All Access and Indeed and I just call all my friends who are GM, PDs and MDs. I like networking.
8) What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get a job?
The craziest thing I ever did to get a radio job was fly from Atlanta to Cleveland and when I landed in Cleveland in April, Its was 40 degrees cold and snowing; I was wearing just a suit with no coat. I had paid for my own airline ticket. I beat out the competition and got the job! I end up getting promoted twice in three years and winning Billboard's MD of the Year Award in 2006. I have no regrets and it was worth the plane ticket and cold weather. Cleveland is a great city for radio; lots of good times in the Land.
9) What is the next job you'd like to obtain?
I'm looking at upper-management positions, anywhere from OM to PD to MD to a prime day part on air. I'm really looking for stability with a good company.

It really depends on the company and the market, it fluctuates from market to market. Some companies have a tight budget and some companies really take care of their employees.
