Please begin by giving us a brief career history ...
KPUS/Corpus Christi -- currently voicetracking middays part-time
Magic 105.3/San Antonio -- filling in middays/weekends
WAHR/Huntsville -- APD/MD /middays1) How are you occupying your time, besides looking for a job?
Trying to get more voiceover work.
2) Some people get discouraged or enlightened with the business when they actually step out of it for a while. Tell us your observations from the outside.
I've done sales, marketing and even legal video briefly, but found that nothing ever compares to the creative and unique world of working in radio. You get great bosses, then some tough ones, just like any other gig, but radio is so much more. Sometimes it does take a little time away to remember how lucky we are to do it for a living.
3) Do you plan on sticking with the radio industry?
Yup, it's what makes me happy.
4) What's the longest stretch you've had on the beach?
Well, I've never been totally out of radio. I've always either voicetracked from home, done commercials or worked part-time. I've never been out of the loop really.
5) What has been your best resource for finding out about job openings?
AllAccess has always been the best bet.
6) What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get a job?
I drove a (mostly drunk) morning show partner around for a month until he got his car back from an ex-wife. He was eventually let go.
7) What is the next job you'd like to obtain?
Middays in the South!
8) Are you able to slow down and enjoy free time doing things with your family and friends that you probably did not have time to do while you were working?
Yeah, but I'd rather be super-busy and working! I think my dog's even tired of seeing me ... it's like he's looking at me saying, "Aren't you gonna go somewhere or something?"
9) What do you miss most about radio? The least?
I miss the brainstorming, being on-air of course, production -- hell, I even miss doing dubs! ... okay, maybe not. But I do really miss it all.
10) Is there anything specific that you regret doing while you were still working?
YEAH ... giving my notice to start a family legal video business. It was the best radio gig I ever had. I should sue myself.
