1) What do you do to maintain a positive mental attitude and stay motivated?
To have a positive outlook I practice the art of LOA, better known as Laws of Attraction. Your life is a manifestation of your thoughts. By focusing on positive thoughts and not allowing negativity, you decide your level of success.
2) How are you occupying your time, besides looking for a job?
I like to occupy my time by writing, twittering (I am addicted), reading blogs and making people laugh. I have a natural comical outlook on life.
3) Do you plan on sticking with the music/radio industry?
I believe LL Cool J said it best, "I can't live without my radio!" Music and radio go hand and hand. Music and radio are my oxygen. I cannot survive without it.
4) What's the longest stretch you've had on the beach?
During the summer, as a child; my family and I would travel down to the Lavallette beach near Seaside Heights from Irvington NJ. The sand between my toes, the golden sun beating against my skin made me feel like I was in paradise.
5) What's the best way to get your foot in the door?
No matter what, never give up on your dreams and passion! I feel that if you can't get thru the door then you need to climb thru the window!
6) What has been your best resource for finding out about job openings?
Of course, AllAccess.com has the inside track on job openings, but social network sites are also great. Through the social networks like Twitter and Facebook, I have networked with radio execs, artists and radio personalities.
7) Are you spending as much time listening to radio as you used to?
Actually I don't just listen to radio, but I study radio. What I mean by this is: I analyze different formats and different personalities in vast areas and learn how they execute their show. I feel in order to top the best you have to study the best.
8) What are your thoughts on the state of music today? And the state of radio?
Today's music is missing heart. There is a lot of focus on bankable artists versus the artists who eat breathe, and sleep the music they produce. At times it seems that great artists are ignored.
The main thing that I dislike about radio today is the rotation of music. Radio rotation of music has become juvenile. It's like the popular kids in high school, stating what's in style and what is not. Radio lacks originality in this respect.
9) What have you learned about yourself, others, or life in general in your downtime?
I have learned that I have to follow my own path. What might have worked for you might not work for me. I decide my destiny, not others.
10) Where do you see yourself in five years? 10 years?
In five years I will have launched my production company and in 10 years I want to have the highest rated syndicated radio show for a female. Most of today's syndicated shows have a male as the major host and have a female co-host. My goal is to change that format.
