We're at Podcast Movement 2016.
By "we," I mean All Access, and by "at," I mean I'm here, Seth Resler's here, Steve Goldstein's here, and we're sponsors of the gift bag all registrants are getting. And so what? So this: We are growing our podcast coverage and we'd love to hear what you want from a trade site for this burgeoning industry.
We do cover news of the podcast world alongside our industry-leading coverage (now, that's a press release phrase right there!) of the radio business and our extensive music news and chart offerings. And where, exactly, the radio business leaves off and the podcasting business begins is getting murkier by the day. Let's face it, you have public radio entities responsible for, like, half the top podcasts, you have radio companies like Scripps (Midroll/Earwolf and Stitcher), CBS (Play.it), and Hubbard (PodcastOne) buying into podcasting, you have shows that are both broadcast and podcast entities (like "This American Life," for example)... so why not have the radio industry's largest trade site branch out and grow on the digital side?
So we are. And if you're a podcaster and not familiar with what we do, may I suggest a few starting points: Net News (hey, I didn't name it) is where we have all the news, first, fastest, and best. My other column, "The Letter," in the menus under Columns and in the News-Talk-Sports section and one of the most notorious/provocative columns in the radio business, often touches upon podcasting issues (for I am one of you: I'm with the Nerdist Podcast Network, too, and I've been with Nerdist since almost the very beginning). And if you talk about music, we have all kinds of charts, including Mediabase 24/7 airplay charts. Oh, and there's the Jobs section, too, if that's apropos for you.
In any event, welcome to Podcast Movement and welcome to AllAccess.com, and, please, if you're making news in podcasting, let me know right away: psimon@allaccess.com is the place to send your press releases, questions, whatever, and @pmsimon on Twitter will do as well. Glad to make your acquaintance, everyone. If you're in Chicago for PM16, look for me hovering around the back of the rooms. That tends to be where I end up.
Got a question about podcasting? Go ahead, send it to psimon@allaccess.com or tweet it at @pmsimon. That's what I'm here for.
