TubeMogul has done a study of the lifespan of video on YouTube...or, more precisely, the lifespan of a video's popularity <http://www.businessinsider.com/chart-of-the-day-the-lifecycle-of-a-youtube-video-2010-5?utm_source=Triggermail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SAI_COTD_052710#ixzz0pFeorvg9> . Instead of 15 minutes of fame, a video gets about 3 weeks of fame. TubeMogul's analysis shows that the typical video gets 50% of its plays in the first 6 days on YouTube and 75% in the first 20 days. This is an accelerated schedule compared to 2 years ago when TubeMoguls's 2008 study showed it took 14 days to get to 50% and 44 days to reach 75%.
