Hailing from Philadelphia, Nick Attaway started bartending at a club where he was exposed to bands that he never heard of and saw many of them blow up shortly after. He realized then that he wanted to be part of that process. That led to an internship at WMMR/Philadelphia. He would put CD’s in alphabetical order in the MD’s office where he got to hear all the pitches from all the record reps. There was one rep that really inspired Nick…Bobbi Silver.
Skip Bishop gave Nick his first shot in 1996 when he was hired to head up College Promo at MCA and Susan Greenwood was his mentor and teacher. A year later, Attaway was promoted to national Triple A and Nancy Levin came in as the head of the Department. After MCA, Attaway went to Arista heading up Triple A and regional Carolina promotion. In 2004, he went to work at Redlight management and ATO records. In 2006 he went to work for Sean O’Connell at Music Allies as his right hand. In 2011, he became the head of promotion for Vagrant Records. In 2014, Vagrant was acquired by BMG and that’s when Attaway became the head of promotion for BMG.
