1) What was your first job in radio?
I ran the board for an Internet radio station while I was in school. I'm pretty sure it was a scam since you paid the company to be a host, but that $5.75 an hour was pretty sweet.
2) What led you to a career in radio?
Realizing I had no musical ability!
3) If you could add any one full-time position to your budget with no questions asked, what would it be?
A jack-of-all-trades, someone that can do production an air shift and set up a live broadcast!
4) Of all the skills you have gained through the years, is there an area you'd like to improve?
Everything, I would hate to stay where I am while everyone else grows and new people come up.
5) How do you interact with your sales staff?
I drink! Compared to how my boss deals with them, we get along great!
6) What is the best advice you would give to young programmers/promotion people?
Remember you love what you do. It can be easy to forget that when your heading home after another 16-hour day!
7) As an air talent, how has industry consolidation helped or hurt you?
It has helped me to make sure I can do everything in our building.
8) Besides your own, what is your favorite radio format?
Talk; I'm obsessed with NPR. Wow, when I see that in writing, I feel super-boring!
9) What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
Since I'm too clumsy to be a dancer I guess I would be looking for a sugar daddy.
10) What's the best concert you've been to so far this year and why?
Waiting for it... Motorhead next month because it's Motorhead!
Bonus Questions
What was the first song or full-length release you purchased?
Ace Of Base -"The Sign." Hey, it was 1993 and I was 12!
Do you have any musical guilty pleasures?
I have so many (see above.)
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I wanted, and still do, to be the lead singer of a punk rock band.
